The Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska invites Bids for for Williams Science Hall
Renovation (Project #1) and Wittson Hall Renovation and Wigton Heritage Center (Project #2) at the University
of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska (UNMC). The Williams Science Hall Renovation and Wittson Hall Renovation and Wigton Heritage Center will be bid
jointly per the information included in this section. While it is the intent for both projects to be bid together,
it is up to the General Contractor to submit bids for one or both projects. Please see Section 00 42 00 –
Proposal Form for additional requirements for submitting for individual projects. The University of Nebraska reserves the right to select a single general contractor for both projects,

The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following renovation and
rehabilitation work at UNMC’s existing Williams Science Hall building: Rehabilitation of the following exterior envelop components: Seal and coat existing EIFS walls, Replace existing glazing with new glazing in existing frames, Replace existing exterior storefront doors and hardware; Renovation of building interior configuration to general science instruction, including: Reconfiguring spaces as shown on the Drawings, Relocating restroom facilities, Renovation of interior finishes, New wood doors and hardware in existing hollow metal frames where indicated on the
Drawings; Updating of life safety and security features, including: New guard railing and hand railing at existing stair towers, Access control hardware at select doors indicated on the Drawings, Renovation of shaft walls, fire walls, and other building code updates; Complete renovation of HVAC system as indicated on the Drawings; Renovation of building electrical system and lighting as indicated on the Drawings.
The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents consists of the following:
a. McGoogan Medical Library (Levels 6, 7 & 8 of Wittson Hall): Complete renovations to interiors and systems supporting Levels 6, 7 & 8 of the
McGoogan Medical Library. Modernize Library Space and provide faculty office
space; On Level 9 Rooftop, add supply fans above stairwells 8098 D & 8098E to comply
with high rise stair pressurization requirements; Replace existing windows, reseal joints in precast concrete, and repair deteriorated
precast concrete on Levels 6, 7 & 8 of the McGoogan Medical Library; Remove selected Precast Concrete wall panels and replace with curtainwall.
Wittson Hall Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5: In the Level 1 Mechanical Room add a new wall & doorway separating the
existing mechanical room from an existing utility tunnel; On Level 2: Remodel Level 2 Gross Anatomy Locker Rooms supporting and adjacent
Comparative Medicine space, Remodel Men’s & Women’s Public Toilet Rooms in compliance with ADA, Remodel and upgrade the ductwork system serving the Gross Anatomy Lab; On Level 3: Demolish space in the Lower Level Amphitheater and remodel to provide a
new conference room, toilet shower, bicycle storage and electrical closet, Replace and add hand washing sinks in existing Men’s & Women’s public
toilet rooms, Remove existing plumbing, casework and finishes in existing Class Lab 3020,
and upgrade to new design, Demolish and upgrade finishes in Corridor 3099A, the adjacent elevator lobby,
and Lobby, Remove existing finishes, railings and doors to Stair 3098A through 6098A
and replace with new railings, doors and finishers, Upgrade Fire Command 3001 to meet High Rise code requirements; On Level 4: Demolish and upgrade Class Lab 4004, Provide a new entrance corridor to Decontamination Sterilization 4020, Demolish the area approximately between grids L & G and remodel into
Gallery Space, Lounge Seating, Public Toilets, and Catering Support Areas, Expand the width of Corridor 4099B and add Storage 4042 and Janitor Closer
4035 by constructing new floor structure above Unfinished 4037
Amphitheater. Upgrade floor, wall and ceiling finishes and lighting in
Corridors 4099B & 4099 BA. Upgrade ceiling finishes and lighting in
Corridor 3099B which are disturbed by widening corridor 4099B, Remove existing eyewash & emergency shower in corridor 4099B, and add
new emergency showers in Labs 4038, 4037, & 4033, Add office space in the Upper Amphitheater area, by constructing new floor
slab; On Level 5: Remodel offices on Level 5, the Chancellor’s suite, to accept the Heritage
Center expansion, Add supply fans above stairwells 5098 B & 5098C to comply with high rise
stair pressurization requirements.
Heritage Center at levels 3-5 and related University Tower 1 work on levels 3, 4, 5, 6 &
Rooftop 7: Demolish an existing link between Wittson Hall and University Tower 1. Add a
curtain wall enclosed structure between Wittson Hall and University Tower 1 to
serve the Chancellor’s mission; University Tower 1 work: Replace existing windows in UT1 with 2 hour rated windows to maintain a
fire separation; Add return ductwork chases in offices at the Northeast and South East corners
of UT1 which will serve the new Heritage Center space; Add a new mechanical space on the Level 7 roof of UT1 to serve the new
Heritage Center space; Add new corridor links from the Heritage Center to UT1 at levels 4 & 5.
Wittson Hall Work: Enclose and expand part of the Level 5 Rooftop area as part of the Heritage
Center, serving the Chancellor’s mission. Upgrade the wall separation to 1
hour rating; Remove portions of the west façade of Wittson Hall to connect the Heritage
Center with the Level 4 Gallery Remodel.
Site Work: Re-grade and refinish the Plaza area south of the New Heritage Center; Revise site work on the north side of the Heritage Center to tie it into the
existing site.

The cost for the bid documents on the Wittson Hall/Wigton Heritage Project is $620.00 (non-refundable) *A Builder's Card will NOT be accepted on this project.
CD's and Downloads containing a full set of Bid Documents in PDF format are available upon receipt of a non-refundable fee in the amount of $100.00 for Williams Science Hall and $150.00 for Wittson Hall/Wigton Heritage Center; each payable to A&D Technical Supply Co., Inc.
Only complete sets of Bid Documents may be obtained.
