Sealed bids for the Iowa Western Community College- Chiller Plant Upgrades, Council Bluffs,
Iowa, will be received at the Purchasing Office, located in Ashley Hall 144, Iowa Western
Community College, 2700 College Road, Council Bluffs, Iowa 51503; (712) 325-3235, until
2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2018, and will be opened publicly in Conference Room C161 in
Clark Hall. The bid tab will be made public.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Work Includes: The Work includes but is not limited to the modifications to an existing central
boiler/chiller power plant. Work includes raising Existing Cooling Tower. Raise one
existing two cell cooling tower approximately 16”. This includes modifying piping and
electrical connections to accommodate. The discharge from a second tower will be piped
directly to the existing basin. Additionally, baffles will be added to the pump basin. The
condenser water piping at the chillers will have modifications to the auto flow control
valves, and new flex connections at each of three chillers. Adding Cooling to the Central
Utility Plant. A new chilled water air handling unit will be added to the central utility
plant to provide cooling. This unit will be tied into the campus control system as well as
into the refrigerant monitoring system to provide make-up air in the event of refrigerant
leak. A new exhaust system for the refrigerant monitoring system will be installed as
well. System will include exhaust fan, and associated ductwork, and controls. Additional
horn/strobe devices will be added to the existing refrigerant alarm and notification
system.
Additional materials include concrete foundations, concrete slab, masonry walls, steel
framing, metal decking, single ply membrane roofing and insulation. Mechanical and
electrical systems are included in the work. Sitework includes paving and other minor
work. Epoxy floor finish at existing and new floor slabs are a part of the work. Painting
will be provided by the owner.

Bid Documents may be obtained from the office of A&D Technical Supply Co., Inc., 4320 S. 89th Street, Omaha, NE 68127, (402) 592-4950 upon receipt of a refundable deposit in the amount of $150.00 payable to Iowa Western Community College. *A Builder's Card will also be accepted in lieu of deposit check.
CD's and Downloads containing a full set of Bid Documents in PDF format are available upon receipt of a non-refundable fee in the amount of $15.00 payable to A&D Technical Supply Co., Inc.
Only complete sets of Bid Documents may be obtained.
If shipping of Bid Documents is required, there is a non-refundable fee in the amount of $20.00 payable to A&D Technical Supply Co., Inc.
If shipping of CD is required, there is a flat fee in the amount of $9.00 payable to A&D Technical Supply Co., Inc.
Bid Documents MUST be returned, in good condition, within 14 calendar days after award of the project to obtain a deposit refund.
If Bid Documents are NOT returned within the time specified, the deposit check will be forfeited.
