The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) intends to procure a qualified Design Builder (DB) to provide design and construction services for the CENTRAL UTILITY PLANT (CUP) BRICK CHIMNEY LINER project. The CUP is located on the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) campus, 4315 Emile Street, Omaha, Nebraska. The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be received by the UNMC Facilities Management & Planning office (Room 2006), 987100 Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha Nebraska – 68198-7100, by 2:00 PM local time on December 14, 2017.

The Project / Scope of Work / Description is as follows: General: Provide all required design, engineering and construction associated with the complete installation of a new full-height (approximately 150’) welded stainless steel liner system for the existing brick chimney exhaust stack at the UNMC Central Utility Plant (CUP). Design and construction must adhere to all applicable State of Nebraska codes and standards. Design documents must be sealed by a Registered Professional Engineer, licensed in the State of Nebraska; The chimney liner must be capable of continuous operation such that it is able to withstand exhaust gas temperatures that range from 125 to 425 degrees (F) while burning natural gas or # 6 fuel. The chimney liner must also be capable of operating in a condensing flue gas environment without damage to the existing brick structure. The installed liner must be also be designed to maintain the exhaust capacity and stack cross-sectional area to run all four (4) existing boilers at 100% load; Provide all required design, engineering and construction associated with any required concrete support structure (concrete slab) required to fully support the free-standing stainless steel chimney liner; Provide all required design, engineering, and construction services associated with the installation of any required lightning protection system, connected to the Owner’s existing lighting protection system (per UL Standards); Optional warranted liner systems may be proposed as an alternate design-build solution but all RFP submittals must include costs for the preferred stainless steel liner system; and Construction is intended to proceed during the summer of 2018 – construction must be completed by August 1, 2018. Proposals should include approximate schedule – from initial design to field completion of all work, to include any required material delivery lead times.
