PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project consists of a new three-story apartment style residence hall located adjacent to University Village Commons, South of the main UNK campus. The approximately 77,655 gross square foot (gsf), proposed residence hall complex will house 100 apartment units built to serve the needs of families, married students, and older students. The new residence hall will include a total of 30 two-bedroom apartments and 70 one-bedroom apartments. The facility will contain a central core with support spaces including kitchen, custodial, public restrooms, and an external mail area. Each of the three residential floors will contain collaboration spaces, multimedia spaces, and a laundry facility. Exterior construction will be a combination of aluminum curtainwall and storefront systems, and brick masonry. The roof will be an EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber roof with a combination of rigid insulation on sloped structure and tapered insulation. Interior construction will typically be gypsum board on metal studs and CMU masonry. A three-stop passenger elevator is also part of the project.
