Bid Info:   Notice is hereby given that Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) is soliciting bids for Bid Package 8367 for new construction and renovations to West Lincoln Elementary, located at 630 West Dawes Ave, Lincoln, Nebraska 68521. Bids are due on or before 2:00 p.m. CST (local time), February 25, 2016 at LPS’ Facilities and Maintenance Office, Attn: Matt Bellamy, 800 South 24th Street, Lincoln, NE 68510.

Public Notes:
The project consists of the following work: Construction of a new single story, slab on grade classroom addition at the southwest corner of the existing facility. The addition is approximately 13,759 gross square feet and includes 8 new classrooms, restrooms, and mechanical space. Exterior walls include a brick veneer with steel stud backing supported by steel columns and beams. Select areas will include load bearing masonry block. The roof structure shall be steel joists and metal deck with a modified bitumen roof system. Construction also includes approximately 460 gross square feet of new construction at the main entrance for security improvements as well as a new steel framed canopy structure with precast concrete panels and brick veneer columns. Interior renovations will include the modification of existing open classrooms to a closed classroom system through the addition of new doors and partition walls. Multiple small resource rooms will be demolished and reconfigured into new classroom space. Existing floor finishes will be replaced with new carpet and rubber flooring. Ceilings will be adjusted to accommodate the new partition walls. Work also includes replacement of approximately 85 percent of the existing roof and insulation with a new modified bitumen system. The HVAC work includes a new geothermal well field to the west of the new addition. This will be separate of the existing well field to the north of the existing school. Heat pumps will be located inside the facility with ducted distribution to the classrooms. Existing access control will be expanded into the new addition and the telecommunications closet will be relocated. Existing fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems will be modified and extended to provide coverage of the new addition. Site work will include modifications to existing grades around the new addition. New playground fencing will be installed adjacent to the addition. Storm and sanitary utilities will be modified and extended. Work will also include the replacement of the existing southeast parking lot with a new concrete parking lot.
