Project Description:
1. Project consists of constructing a 2-story addition, including a partial basement level and ground floor, to expand the existing fitness center located near the Johnson Gym on the northwest side of the existing complex. Each level shall be approximately 3300 square feet. Construction includes masonry walls with brick veneer and precast exterior panels. Floor shall be precast hollow core planks with poured concrete topping, supported by bearing walls and steel beams and columns. Roof structure shall be steel joists and deck, with modified bitumen membrane.
2. The HVAC work includes replacing an existing air handler with a larger capacity unit and replacing and expanding supply ductwork and installing new return ductwork for the replaced unit.
3. Work also includes modifications to the existing wood shop to accommodate the relocation of the overhead door. This work includes relocating and re-ducting an existing dust collection system within the wood shop and relocating electrical equipment and feeders to the dust collection equipment and several tools within the wood shop.
4. Exiting fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems will be modified and extended to provide coverage of the new addition.
5. At the existing main entrance, modifications will be required on three inner door sets to provide a secure entrance monitor station and electronic controls of the remaining doors.
6. Site work will include modifications to existing utilities in the area of the addition as well as reconfiguring some parking stalls, curbs and sidewalks.
